CORNWALL PUBLIC LIBRARY
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Policy Title: Unattended Children Policy
Policy Category: Service
Effective date: 1997, rev. February 27, 2018

POLICY STATEMENT

Because unattended children can be at risk in a public place, Cornwall Public Library requires that children under the age of 11 be accompanied by a parent while in the library.

When an unattended child is found in the library, staff will take all necessary steps to contact the parent, guardian or care giver. If the parent, guardian or care giver cannot be located, staff may contact Children’s Aid or the Cornwall Community Police Services.
