SOLAR ECLIPSE GLASSES - SAFETY WARNING FROM AMAZON
We would like to bring to your attention a safety issue regarding Solar Eclipse Glasses. Some of these were distributed at the Library. This cautionary advisory has recently been communicated by Amazon, who identified certain purchased products as potentially problematic. The glasses in question are purple and have an American flag draped on either side of the viewing lenses on the front.
Affected Product: Solar Eclipse Glasses, 20PCS Iso 12312-2 Certified Safe Filter Technology Paper Frame Glasses for Solar Eclipse Viewing (C)
The product listed above was not included in the American Astronomical Society’s list of safe suppliers of solar eclipse viewers and filters and therefore may not be safe for viewing a solar eclipse.
If you possess the mentioned product, we advise refraining from using it during the upcoming eclipse on April 8 as a precautionary measure.
However, the brown eclipse glasses bearing the NASA logo and QR code that you may have acquired at the Library are certified as safe for use.
