Friends of CPL

About us

The Friends of the Cornwall Public Library is a registered charitable incorporated organization whose mandate is to support the Cornwall Public Library by raising funds to enhance library programs, services and collections and by advocating for good library services in the City of Cornwall.

What have we done?
The Friends have donated a significant amount of money to the Library since their inception in 1994. The money raised from Giant Book Sales and the Friends' Place Book Store has gone towards the following recent new projects:

Programs for Children and young adults such as annual Read to Ride Program
Author visits and other adult programs including a successful Writer's Fest
Library Equipment such as new Computerized Microfilm Reader
and new Personal Computers
New Furniture pieces and shelving
Sun blinds for the west facing windows
Recent donation of $15,000 to replace security gates
The Friends of the Library are committed to supporting the CPL and donating additional funds for those services and equipment not covered by the operational budget.
Purchase of a three year subscription to "Family Chronicles".

What can you do to help?

Become a volunteer to work in the Friend's Place Bookstore, working in the basement storage area or as a Committee member
Donate hard cover books, paperbacks, magazines, puzzles, CD's and DVD's for resale at the Bookstore
Make a tax-deductible donation.
Include the Friends in your Will.

Friends' Place

Open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Good bargains can be found. Come visit us! Watch for our Annual Big Book Sale in the Fall and other fundraising initiatives.

If you would like to become a member ask a volunteer at the Friends Place, just inside the entrance. for an application. Monthly meetings are held first Monday in April, May, June, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec.
