Friends of CPL

About us

The Friends of the Cornwall Public Library is a registered charitable incorporated organization whose aim is to support the Cornwall Public Library by raising funds and by advocating for good library service in the City of Cornwall.

What have we done?

The Friends have donated a significant amount of money to the Library since their inception in 1994. The money raised from Giant Book Sales and the Friends' Place Book Store has gone towards the following projects:

The Gwyn Dyer Lecture.
Annual High School Debate prizes.
Contribution towards the new library building.
Spelling Bee prizes.
Gift certificates for Ontario Public Library Week.
Purchase of four talking book machines for the print impaired.
Contribution towards a Microfilm Reader/Printer.
Purchase of a three year subscription to "Family Chronicles".
Purchase and installation of a display case for the Young Adult and Children's Services.
Plexiglass Bookshelf range finders were purchased for the entire library.
Purchase of RTI Tape check machine to help in the upkeep of the library's video tape collection.
Donation to start a DVD collection.

What can you do to help?

Volunteer at the Friends' Place bookstore.
Donate books, paperbacks, magazines, puzzles and games for resale at the Bookstore.
Make a tax-deductible donation.
Include the Friends in your Will.

Friends' Place

Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Good bargains can be found. Come visit us!

If you would like to become a member or find out about our next meeting, contact us at the Friends' Place just inside the entrance to the Library.
